| Biting
Children’s Day Out provides an environment that encourages and promotes
cooperative interaction, respect for others, and non-aggressive problem
solving between the children. In this environment, biting cannot be tolerated.
If a child bites another person (child or staff member) while attending
a class at Children’s Day Out, the following procedures will be
followed based upon which class the biting child is in:
Nursery & Toddler Classes
If the biting child is in the Nursery or Toddler classes, the biting child
will be isolated from the other children (with a Children’s Day
Out staff member present) for a period of time determined to be necessary
by that child’s teacher and the director. Both the biting child’s
parents and the bitten child’s parents will be notified of the biting
incident when they pick up their children.
Two’s Classes
If the biting child is in the Two’s classes, and the biting incident
is the first or second incident by the biting child,
the biting child will be isolated from the other children (with a Children’s
Day Out staff member present) for a period of time determined to be necessary
by that child’s teacher and the director. Both the biting child’s
parents and the bitten child’s parents will be notified of the biting
incident when they pick up their children.
If the biting incident is the third incident by a child in the
Two’s classes, the biting child will be removed from the classroom
and taken to the director’s office for a period of time determined
to be necessary by that child’s teacher and the director. The director
will call the biting child’s parents to notify them of the biting
incident. The bitten child’s parents will be notified of the biting
incident when they pick up their child.
If the biting incident is the fourth incident by a child in the
Two’s classes, the biting child will be removed from the classroom
and taken to the director’s office. The biting child’s parents
will be called and asked to take the child home for the remainder of the
class day. The child may return to Children’s Day Out on his/her
following class day. The bitten child’s parents will be notified
of the biting incident when they pick up their child.
If the biting incident is the fifth or more incident
by a child in the Two’s classes, the biting child will be removed
from the classroom and taken to the director’s office. The biting
child’s parents will be called and asked to take the child home
for the remainder of the class day. The biting child will be removed from
Children’s Day Out for one full week and may not participate in
any Children’s Day Out activities during that week. There will be
no alteration of tuition paid for the child because of an absence that
results from the child’s biting. The bitten child’s parents
will be notified of the biting incident when they pick up their child.
Three’s & Four’s Classes
If the biting child is in the Three’s or Four’s classes, and
the biting incident is the first or second incident
of biting by the child, the biting child will be removed from the classroom
and taken to the director’s office. The biting child’s parents
will be called and asked to take the child home for the remainder of the
class day. The child may return to Children’s Day Out on his/her
following class day. The bitten child’ parents will be notified
of the biting incident when they pick up their child.
If the biting incident is the third or more incident
by a child in the Three’s or Four’s classes, the biting child
will be removed from the classroom and taken to the director’s office.
The biting child’s parents will be called and asked to take the
child home for the remainder of the class day. The biting child will be
removed from Children’s Day Out for one full week and may not participate
in any Children’s Day Out activities during that week. There will
be no alteration of tuition paid for the child because of an absence that
results from the child’s biting. The bitten child’s parents
will be notified of the biting incident when they pick up their child.
