CDO Parent Handbook - Parent Responsibilities

Parent liability for damages to church or Children's Day Out property

Tarrytown United Methodist Church sponsors Children's Day Out and authorizes Children's Day Out to use the church's physical facilities, grounds, and equipment for its program. Children's Day Out also owns equipment over and above church's property.

If a child damages the physical facilities, grounds, equipment or any other property owned by Tarrytown United Methodist Church or Children's Day Out while attending Children's Day Out, the child's parents will be notified immediately of the damage caused by the child and will be liable to Tarrytown United Methodist Church or Children's Day Out for the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged property.

Pickup & drop off procedures

Nursery, Toddler and 2’s classes meet Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday, and 3’s and 4’s meet Tuesday - Friday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Please observe these hours. Our teachers need time in the morning to prepare for class and time in the afternoon for cleaning up without children present. Your child will be placed in the late day program if you don’t arrive to pick up him/her by 2:05 p.m. If someone other than you will be picking up your child, a written note so indicating MUST be left with the child’s teacher or Director. In some instances, a phone call to the Director may suffice. The teachers and teaching assistants will meet from 8:30 am - 9:30 am one morning each month. On the mornings of teachers meetings, classes for the children will begin at 9:30 am. The dates for these meetings are included in the calendar.

A special note to parents: If your child cries when you are dropping him/her off, it is permissible to leave the child with his/her teacher and depart as soon as possible. Children usually stop crying before the parent reaches the car. Your child’s teacher will inform you if the crying persists.

Snacks & Lunch

A word about snacks. CDO provides a nutritious snack each day. A calendar stating the snack provided is located in the CDO office. Substitutions are noted on the calendar.

A word about lunches.
The CDO program is committed to good nutrition as an integral part of the preschool experience. Not only do the children benefit physically, they are also learning the principles of good nutrition. We would appreciate your cooperation in sending nutritious foods such as sandwiches, cheese, fruit cut up, vegetables, etc. in your child’s lunch box.
